The Art of Contraception by Susie Wild

The Art of Contraception

Susie Wild

Eleven short stories and a novella make up this quirky debut collection. Populated by odd bods, eccentrics and the slightly unhinged, these sharply observed episodes would appeal to anyone who likes their fiction to be a little surreal.

Extract
Last night I paid for sex. When I met her she was wearing her favourite red dress, the short clinging one with the spaghetti straps. The one that hugs her hips; shows off those tanned, toned legs. I'd made less effort, fraying at the edges in my usual black cords, the same faded retro tee. We formed an unlikely couple - a fashion league apart - but in that drop-dead dress she fitted the bill and I paid it.
