This Farewell Symphony by Edmund Bealby-Wright

This Farewell Symphony

Edmund Bealby-Wright

An eclectic cast of day-trippers travel from Vienna to visit the haunts of composer Joseph Haydn. Widower Edward and his young children play the starring role in this satirical tale. The serious subject matter of a grieving father is effectively lightened by witty commentary and an element of the surreal, making this original and quirky story both moving and amusing in equal measure.

Extract
Haydn's symphonies are littered with musical jokes, so many jokes that his detractors called him a musical prankster. The Farewell Symphony, however, is a joke with serious intent.
