Five Fields

Gillian Clarke

Beautiful, evocative poetry - I loved the detail of her work.

On the twelfth day we undress the tree:
twelve papier mache apples,eleven balls---
--all into the box
with flakes of human skin, glitter, glass, pine-
needles sifted to corners and under the
flaps, dust, maybe from every year of my life.
