I really enjoyed the first part of the novel although many of the characters were one-dimensional and even the hero (antihero?) got less, rather than more, interesting as time went on. Lots of swearing and sex as the poor little rich kids cope with growing up. The hero's search for his identity was fascinating but then it turned into just another cops and drug-pushers thriller.

What chilled me was realising that this wasn't because of the drugs. It was because it was the strongest thing I'd ever felt. I didn't have much experience at articulating that stuff. Girls can do it because they spend all their time talking. Boys can't because, though they'd like to when push comes to shove, in the meantime they'd rather go one on one at Tekken.
