The Treatment by Mo Hayder

The Treatment

Mo Hayder

A police detective hunts a child rapist, but the book is far more than that. The main character is haunted by emotional scars caused by his long missing brother - victim of a paedophile and this obviously affects his behaviour in this case. The conclusion is so painful it could bring tears from a stone.

Extract
The photograph Ronald Clare was holding up to the window showed a man having intercourse with a boy. In fact the man was forcing intercourse on a young boy - that was clear from the child's expression, and from his posture. The man's face was blurred, slightly tilted on one side, but it was a face that Roland Klare had seen a lot recently.
