Baggage by Emily Barr

Baggage

Emily Barr

An excellent read! A terrible indictment of tabloid journalism mixed in with a really good plot, believable characters and situations. A good holiday read, not too taxing but it does make you think...

I look around, checking Sophie hasn't crept into the house to watch me. It is as tidy as it was before this happened. Everything is still in its place, but my own neatness, which sustains me day and night, is shattered. I pour myself a refill. It's making me feel sick, but I gulp it back all the same. I haven't lost control for ten years. The only way I've got this far is by exerting rigourous self-discipline.
