At the start of this book I didn't like the main characters at all, but as the story unfolds you get to know them, what shaped and made them as they are. I ended up with a grudging respect for both Frank and Honey, and would like to think that they would have made the 'American Dream' come true.

I realized right then that this was the dumbest son-of-a-bitch in the world, or I'd been had real bad, and if I was holding the goddamn gun which was really my goddamn finger right then, I would surely killed Melvin, because I felt I just didn't know what was up and what was down.
