The Lost City by Henry Shukman

The Lost City

Henry Shukman

A rollicking good modern adventure story - bandits, drug barons, romantic interest, a soldier of fortune. Everything thrown into the mix, and what a mix it is. Think of John Buchan, crossed with Graham Greene, and with a dash of Robert Louis Stevenson. An unputdownable, good, fun read.

Then from outside he heard Cruz shout. Muffled by the tunnel came another man's voice, then another shout, followed by a sharp snap. He knew what it was. In the depth of the tunnel, a shot would sound like that. There was a short cry, a grunt, then silence.
