Saving Caravaggio by Neil Griffiths

Saving Caravaggio

Neil Griffiths

An intriguing and fast-paced thriller which really comes alive as things start to go wrong. It is also a story of obsession with an ending which absolutely stunned me and kept me thinking about it for weeks after I had read the book.

Extract
Just under four hours to Naples. Time to think - think my way into this. Two big problems to solve. How to be shown the Caravaggio a second time? And then what to do? My job as a copper is to recover stolen works of art on mainly semi-legitimate terms: buy back (pay the ransom), trade back (do a deal), occasionally take back (make an arrest). But this is different: I don't have the money to buy it back, no one is offering a deal and I've no powers of arrest.
