The Visitation

Sue Reidy

Teenage girls in a large Catholic family have complicated lives even without a visitation from the Virgin Mary. The stresses and strains on the family and the girls are portrayed well with just the right amount of humour.

Extract
The Virgin Mary paced up and down their grandparents small lounge like a caged animal. 'I would like to walk and explore' she said. 'Please take me with you.' Didn't the Virgin understand what their lives were like? ... they simply weren't free to come and go as they pleased without making up excuses to explain their absences.
